Verukah Poirier returns to JFK after completing her judicial clerkship at the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver. She joins the Dispute Resolution Practice Group and the Nation Building Practice Group at JFK.

Before going to law school, Verukah attended the University of British Columbia for her Bachelors of Arts with a major in First Nations and Indigenous Studies. While at UBC, Verukah spent time as the Youth in Care Representative, and worked with UBC Enrolment Services to create more inclusive spaces for Indigenous Youth in Care.  Verukah graduated with a juris doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law. After her graduation, Verukah clerked at the BC Supreme Court in Vancouver. While at the BC Supreme Court, Verukah was a judicial law clerk to 7 BC Supreme Court Judges.

Prior to her time at JFK Law, Verukah worked as a Gladue Report Writer at the BC First Nations Justice Council. She also volunteered with an organization teaching the Law 12 course to the high school students at the Tseil-Waututh First Nation.

In her spare time, Verukah enjoys spending time with her daughter and loved ones in the Lil’wat traditional territories. She also enjoys time beading with her daughter and going snowboarding in the North Shore mountains.
