Jane Fallis Cooper is an associate at JFK’s Toronto office. Jane holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, during which she completed the Osgoode Hall Law School Intensive Program in Indigenous Lands, Resources & Governments.

Prior to law school, Jane completed a Bachelor’s degree in biology at Queen’s University, and a Master’s degree in bioethics at Harvard University. She has published extensively in the field of bioethics, including a paper and book chapter relating to bioethics and environmental justice.

While at law school, Jane was involved in U of T’s mooting program, competing in the national Willms & Shier Environmental Law Moot in her 2L year, and coaching in 3L. In her summers, Jane interned both with Canadian Environmental Legal Association (CELA), and with the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) in D.C. In her 3L year, she completed the Osgoode Hall Law School Intensive Program. This program, and associated placement with CELA and Grand Council Treaty #3, was a highlight of her law school experience.

After graduating from U of T, Jane completed a judicial clerkship at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Central West region), where she assisted over 40 judges in the Brampton and Milton courthouses. The following year, she completed a second judicial clerkship in Ottawa at the Federal Court of Canada, where she clerked for the Honourable Justice Christine Pallotta.

Jane is a settler living in Toronto, Treaty 13 territory. Outside of law, Jane competes in Irish dance, enjoys trying new artistic mediums, and is (slowly) working on a middle grade novel.
