Congratulations to Christina Gray, who was called to the bar in B.C. today, October 12, 2021. Christina has practiced law since 2015, and was first called to the bar in Ontario. However, she waited to be called to the bar in B.C. for many years in order to be called in her Ts’msyen laxyuubu (territory) and says this about the meaning in her wait:
“I was first called in Ontario and transferred my license to practice in B.C. without formally being called because it was not the right time. What I learnt from the pandemic is that timing may never be perfect.
It was significant for me to be called in Prince Rupert because this is the place of my ancestors. So for me to be called in Prince Rupert honours both my connection to the land, my ancestors, and future ancestors.”
