Congratulations to Shayla Praud on her call to the BC Bar!

On May 24th, 2024, Shayla swore her oath with her colleagues in JFK’s Victoria office. This marks the end of her legal training and the start of her journey as a lawyer in British Columbia. Shayla first joined JFK as a summer student from the University of Victoria JID program and continued as an articling student.

Shayla is a citizen of Laxgiik pdeek (Eagle clan) from the Nisga’a village of Laxgalts’ap, but was raised in Snuneymuxw territory, also known as Nanaimo. Over her articles, we have seen that she brings curiosity to her work and consistently seeks to really understand and advance clients’ goals. She has brought unique insights on governance and economic development matters and demonstrates a deep understanding of opportunities and challenges facing First Nations today.

We are delighted that Shayla will be continuing with JFK Law as an associate in our Victoria office and look forward to seeing where her legal career takes her.
