Robert Janes and Krista Robertson of JFK will be in Divisional Court in Toronto on February 7 and 8, 2018 on behalf of the Eabametoong First Nation.
Eabametoong is asking the Court to overturn a mining exploration permit issued by the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines to Landore Resources Canada. The exploration drilling authorized by the permit is on lands important to Eabametoong for the ongoing exercise of their Aboriginal and Treaty rights.
The Court is being asked to consider whether or not Ontario properly met its duty to consult with Eabametoong before the permit was issued.
