JFK Law Welcomes Carly Chunick, Maya Ollek and others

JFK is pleased to introduce Carly Chunick, Destiny Orchard, Maya Ollek, Natila Kabir, Amelia Hadfield and welcoming back Brendan Schatti.

Carly Chunick joined us back in October 2023 as an associate in our Victoria office. Carly joined JFK Law after a 12 year career at the BC Ombudsperson where she was an investigator, manager and director of an investigative unit. Her expertise is in administrative law, government oversight and investigative practice. Carly began her legal career at an Aboriginal law firm in Victoria. 

Destiny Orchard joined our assistant team back in November 2023 in our Vancouver office. She assists Erin Thomson-Leach, Robin Phillips and Isabelle Lefroy.

Maya Ollek joined us at the beginning of January as an associate in our Vancouver office. Maya joins JFK after spending several years at a leading civil litigation boutique. She will be practicing in the firm’s Nation Building and Governance and Dispute Resolution practice groups.  Maya clerked for the Hon. Justice Rosalie Abella at the Supreme Court of Canada and for seven justices at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Maya worked on human rights policy in conflict and post-conflict settings, including as Canada’s lead policy advisor on human rights and governance in Afghanistan at Global Affairs Canada.

Natila Kabir also joined our assistant team as a Legal Administrative Assistant at the beginning of January and works out of Toronto office. She assists Lara Koerner-Yeo and Bernd Christmas.

Amelia Hadfield joins our assistant team as our new Victoria Office Clerk/Legal Administrative Assistant. She assists Brock Roe and Maya Ollek.

Michelle Verona joints our accounting team as an accounting assistant in the Victoria office.

We are happy to welcome back Brendan Schatti for is articling’s, he works out of our Toronto office. A recent graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School and the Intensive Program in Indigenous, Lands, Resources, and Governments, Brendan is thrilled to continue growing as an advocate at JFK Law under the guidance of proven mentors and esteemed professionals. In his spare time, Brendan enjoys spending time on the land and honing his nascent wood and metalworking skills.
