JFK Law senior associate Christina Gray was recently featured in Canadian Geographic discussing Indigenous place names and rematriation.

The article draws on a Yellowhead Institute report on the rematriation of Indigenous place names, co-authored by Christina Gray (Ts’msyen citizen from Lax Kw’alaams and Łutsël K’é Dene citizen) and Andrew Ambers (from the ‘Namgis and Ma’amtagila First Nations of the Kwakwaka’wakw Peoples).

Their work explores how Indigenous place names carry stories, languages, laws and relationships to land, and how rematriation can be part of recovery, return and making things right.
