Jane Fallis Cooper is an Associate in JFK’s Toronto office. She is expanding her practice in both Dispute Resolution/ Litigation and Nation Building. Jane particularly enjoys bringing her scientific training to her legal practice and working closely with clients to address environmental challenges.
Jane holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. During law school, Jane was actively involved in the University of Toronto’s mooting program. She competed in the national Willms & Shier Environmental Law Moot in her second year and acted as a coach for the mooting program in her final year. She also completed internships with the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA), and the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) in Washington, D.C.
In her final year, Jane completed the Osgoode Hall Law School Intensive Program, including a placement with CELA and Grand Council Treaty #3, an experience that was a highlight of her legal education.
After graduating from U of T, Jane completed a judicial clerkship at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Central West Region), where she assisted over 40 judges in the Brampton and Milton courthouses. The following year, she completed a second judicial clerkship in Ottawa at the Federal Court of Canada, where she clerked for the Honourable Justice Christine Pallotta.
Jane is a settler living in Toronto, on Treaty 13 territory. Outside of her legal practice, she competes in Irish dance, enjoys exploring new artistic mediums, and is slowly working on a middle-grade novel.
