Earlier this year, representatives of two UN agencies determined that Canada has not done enough to protect Canada’s largest UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wood Buffalo National Park, from impacts of hydroelectric dams and oil sands projects. This month, representatives of the Mikisew Cree First Nation, with help from JFK Law, met with UN delegations at UNESCO headquarters in Paris to urge the international community to take action on Wood Buffalo National Park at this summer’s meeting of the World Heritage Committee.
